ÇIFTÇI, Hacettepe University, Ankara, Turkey Objective: Phonetics must be considered with mechanics and esthetics as the cardinal factors contributing to the success of the dental prosthesis and articulation, a major element as formation of phonemes. Method:Patients' sounds were recorded prior to application and 2 weeks after the application for the purpose of evaluation of sound parameters. Recorded sounds were analyzed with Kay Elemetrics Computerized Speech Laboratory Model 4300B.Pitch contour and format history were used and fundemental frequency was determined after the creation of spectrograms during analyses,FFT Waterfall test was used to determine the F format. After conduct of analyses, variations in the prosthesis application and fundemental sound frequency and F1 format were compared. Results: The results revealed that disarticulation was observed. Adaptation was easier in some patients, but most patients were affected after the application of new denture.Their fundamental sound quality decrease. Then a significant amelioration was observed in two weeks after the application of a removable partial denture. Conclusion:In general the new denture user's problems in articulation were resolved after two week of use.
