0298 Prevalence of Postmenopausal Hormone Use by Female TMD Patients

Objectives: To investigate the prevalance of use of postmenopausal hormones and the correlation of socio-cultural status between TMD and non-TMD in a group of Turkish women.

Methods: A group of symptomatic female TMD patients was compared to an age and sex matched group of individuals with no TMD symptoms in a group of Turkish women.

Results: There is a higher prevalance of use of postmenopausal hormones among females with TMD compared to age and sex matced group without TMD.

Conclusion: Clinicians need to concerned that patients taking replacement estrogens are at increased risk of developing TMDs.
