Objectives: Dental implants can be a very satisfying alternative to conventional fixed partial dentures and resin bonded restorations. The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical and radiographic outcome of thirty-three implant supported single crowns. Methods: Thirty-three implants (ITI, Frialit 2 and Camlog) were inserted in 21 patients. Of the total implants, 12 were placed in the maxilla and 21 in the mandible. A total of 27 implants were placed in posterior segments. After the osseointegration restorations were constructed and after insertion the patients were recalled 1 week and 1,3,6,12,24 months later for evaluation. The implants were evaluated by clinical and radiographic parameters. Standardized radiographs were taken at each recall evaluation. The restorations were evaluated by two prosthodontists regarding to color match, marginal integrity, anatomical form, and porcelain surface. The patients own appreciation of the implant and the prosthetic therapy were evaluated. Results: The cumulative implant survival rates after on average of 18 months (min 6, max 24 months) of loading was 100%. The implants were in function and clinically stable when tested individually; there was no pain from the implants; the peri-implant soft tissues were clinically healthy. Periimplant bone loss was in the clinically acceptable levels. All the patients were satisfied with the esthetic and functional outcome of their prosthetic restorations. Conclusion: Single tooth dental implants can be a very good alternative to conventional fixed partial restorations. Patient selection, presurgical planning, and the position of the implant play major role in success.
