S. KARAKAYA, N. UNLU, M. KUSDEMIR, and F. OZER, Selcuk University, Konya, Turkey Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the shear bond strength of newly developed self-etch system (ABF Bond, Kuraray) after some years of shelf-life in refrigerator at 4° C. Material and Method: Flat occlusal dentin surfaces were created on 60 extracted human molar teeth 2 mm above the dentino-enamel junction. The teeth were randomly divided into four groups (n=15). The bonding systems had a shelf life of 1, 8, 20 and 36 months respectively. The bonding agents were applied on the flat dentinal surfaces according to the manufacturer's instructions. Composite resin (Clearfil APX-Kuraray) was applied to the surfaces in standart cylindirical shaped plastic matrixes (2 mm in diameter and 2mm in height) and light cured. Shear bond testing was applied by using a stubby-shaped apparatus (Ultradent, USA) at a crosshead speed of 1,5 mm/min to each specimen. The bond strengths were calculated and converted into MPa. Results: One-way ANOVA statistical test indicated that there was not any significant difference among the bond strengths of bonding agents (p>0.05). But, the bonding system with a shelf life of one month showed higher bond strength (38,0±7,24) than the other groups (34,34±7,75; 34,86±7,14; 35,09±7,02 respectively). Conclusion: The bond strength of self-etch ABF bonding which is kept in a refrigerated storage may not be influenced from the self-life. | ||
