Many different self-etching adhesive systems have been recently marketed, but their effectiveness in luting endodontic posts with self or dual-cured composite cements is still discussed. Objectives:the aim of this in vitro study is to evaluate the resistan-ce to pull-out test of quartz fiber posts luted with 4 different self-etching adhesives.Methods:40 extracted human superior incisal teeth were endodontically treated, and divided into 5 groups of 4+4 elements.Identical quartz fiber posts (Endolightpost, RTD)were luted using self-curing(C & B,Bisco)and Dual-curing(Duo Link, Bisco) composite cement in root canals pre-treated as following; Group 1;H3PO4 + One-Step (Bisco)as control.Group 2;Tyrian(Bisco).Group 3; Clearfil SE Bond(Kuraray). Group 4;Xeno(Dentsply).Group 5 Optibond SoloPlus (Kerr).Slices(2.2 mm thickness)were obtained and subjected to pull-out test with Instron machine. Results:Group 1;29.83 MPa(a,with C&B)/27.12 MPa(b,with Duo Link).Group 2;27.00 MPa (a) / 22.05 MPa(b).Group 3)25.00 MPa(a)/10.10 MPa(b). Group 4)13 MPa(a)/2.60 MPa(b).Group 5;3.00 MPa(a)/2.20 MPa(b). Conclusion: the above results show that:1)Etching with H3PO4 + adhesive(control)leads to the best performances.2)Tyrian shows a resistance to pull-out test very close to that of control group.3)Different self-etching systems lead to different results. 4)Performances of groups 4-5 must be considered inadequate.5)Self-curing cements seem to be more effective than dual-curing in all the groups considered.
