Please read this general information before submitting your on-line abstract

SUBMIT IN STEPS

The on-line abstract submission is a multi-step process. You may complete all the steps in one session or use many sessions. To see what you have submitted or to resume the submission process, all you need is the ID# and Password that will be issued once you begin the process. The steps are as follows:

• Step 1: Selecting a scientific group for review
• Step 2: Entering the title, mode of presentation, and support information
• Step 3: Entering the keywords
• Step 4: Naming the presenter and co-author(s)
• Step 5: Submitting the abstract text

CONTENT OF ABSTRACT

The abstract must contain a brief statement of:

1. The objectives of the investigation,
2. Experimental methods used,
3. Essential results, including data and, where appropriate, statistics,
4. Conclusion

To achieve a more consistent style, the words: "Objectives:", "Methods:", "Results:", and "Conclusion:", each immediately followed by a colon as shown, must appear in the body of your abstract. The on-line abstract system will not accept abstracts unless they contain these words.

DO's AND DON'Ts

• DON'T include illustrations or photos, although tables, charts and columns may be used.
• DON'T submit abstracts reporting studies with unidentified drugs or materials. They will not be accepted.
• DO mention the name of a commercial product if used in the research but only once.
• DO disclose external funding (required) by listing the name of supporting agency and grant number in the body of the text.
• DO limit the number of words in the abstract to 300 or less. Larger abstracts will not be accepted. Titles are limited to 10 words or less.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Presentations will be selected for the program on the basis of the scientific quality of the work as judged from the abstract. Each abstract will be reviewed by reviewers with expertise in the scientific group to which it was submitted

Rejected abstracts are also reviewed by the Scientific Committee, whose decision is final. Click here to see a list of reasons an abstract may be rejected.

NOTE: If you are entering the Senior or Junior Colgate Prize please submit your abstract under the "Competition" heading rather than your preferred scientific grouping.

Entries for other prizes should be submitted under the appropriate scientific groups. Also, please note that Potential Prize entries should check their eligibility and details of prize submission by reading the PRIZE REGULATIONS which can be accessed HERE. Failure to follow these instructions will result in your abstract being excluded from the prize competition.
