Practice-Based Research – What’s it all about?

Sponsored by: NIDCR and Evidence-based Dentistry Network
Description: Practice-based research is becoming more common in prevention and health care research. This symposium will focus on the conduct of oral health research in dental practice with the goal of informing basic and clinical researchers about this type of research and its prominent challenges and opportunities. Representatives from practice-based research networks (PBRNs) will briefly discuss the challenges and opportunities, recruitment, training, and study development in their PBRNs. An informal panel discussion that includes representatives from the CROWN Dental PBRN in Ohio (Dr. Stephen Wotman), the Scottish Dental PBRN (Dr. NIgel Pitts), and PBRN practitioners will follow the formal presentations.
