International Bioethics and Human Rights in Relation to Dental Research

Sponsored by: Ethics in Dental Research Committee
Description: The IADR Code of Ethics is being reviewed using a consultation process involving the whole of the IADR membership. This was started in Brisbane 2006 using a symposium and workshop to explore the reasons for embarking on a review of the Code. This was highly successful and after careful consideration of the feedback we wish to continue the process in 2007 through a symposium entitled International Bioethics and Human Rights in Relation to Dental Research. The aims of the symposium are as follows: To promote the continuing need to review and adjust the IADR/AADR Code of Ethics as required. To promote the need to be conversant with the IADR/AADR Code of Ethics in each Federation, Division and Scientific group and its implications in research and higher eductaion governance. To consider through discussion the implications of changes in research practice, global developments and expectations of individuals, communities and governments on the IADR/AADR Code of Ethics To dissemintae good practice throughout the organisation To encourage the pursuit of collaborative ethical research in the dental community for the benefit of mankind.
