Dental Education at the Crossroads + 12 Years: Taking Stock

Sponsored by: Behavioral Sciences, ADEA
Description: The thoughtful deliberations from the 1995 IOM Report provided a framework for the future of dental education based on four propositions: (1) closer integration with medicine and the health care systems on all levels; (2) in preparation for change, dental educators should teach and display desirable models of clinical practice; (3) securing resources to support the mission; and (4) continual testing of alternative models of education, practice and perrformance assessment. The symposium will provide a framework for discussion of what has transpired since the Report was issued.
