Objectives: The purpose of this study was to clinically evaluate Cercon zirconia all-ceramic restorations (Dentsply Prosthetics) when used in conjunction with Dyract Cem Plus self-adhesive compomer luting cement. (Dentsply Prosthetics). Methods: 72 posterior and anterior ceramic crowns, 21 all ceramic fixed partial dentures were placed in 55 patients. Standard ceramic preparations were performed followed by conventional polyvinylsiloxane impression techniques using cord retraction. A self-adhesive compomer luting cement was used to insert the restorations following manufacturer's instructions. Restorations were evaluated at baseline (B), 6, and 12months using modified Ryge criteria. Results: the restorations showed very little change in all evaluation parameters. The restorations showed no change in color match, marginal discoloration, retention, anatomic form, or secondary caries but did show a slight decrease in alfa percentages for retention (99%) and marginal adaptation(94%). Conclusions: The data supports that there were sufficient shades available to obtain desired esthetic results, with 100%of all restorations being rated alfa for shade match to Vita (Vident) shade guide. Moderate postoperative sensitivity was only found in one patient who did not require additional therapy. 100% of the 57 crowns and 22 abutments evaluated were clinically acceptable after 12 months. One crown came off and was re-cemented. It was determined to be clinically acceptable after cementation. This study was supported by Dentsply Prosthetics.
