| Description: The landscape of biomedical research has begun a significant change in this decade, consequent to the merger of technology and biomedicine. At the intersection of these scientific fields is the promise of new fundamental discoveries and significant progress in the understanding and management of disease. In the bioengineering arena, technological progress in biosensors, biomaterials and tissue engineering, drug and gene delivery systems and devices, medical devices and implant sciences, and micro- and nanotechnology is providing quantitative tools for new insights and therapeutic approaches to disease.
