[AADR] Development of Self-reported Measures for Surveillance of Periodontitis

Description: In 2003, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in collaboration with the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) convened a workgroup to assess the feasibility of using self-report measures as a valid instrument for population based surveillance of periodontal disease. The purpose of this symposium is to highlight the research accomplishments of this workgroup and to discuss issues arising from the project. The following topics will be addressed 1) the public health significance of developing a self-report measure for surveillance of periodontal disease, 2) validity of self-report measures for periodontal disease from analyses of multiple datasets, and 3) validity of self-report measures of periodontal disease from the National Australia Survey of Adult Oral Health
