Objective: To design and validate a self administered questionnaire for assessing acceptance of removable denture, both complete and partial, by using large-scale populations. Methods: The questionnaire including 60-items responded by Likert scale was developed with open-ended interviews with patient wearing or not wearing removable prostheses at dental hospital and was tested with 322 subjects (138 male and 183 female) having missing teeth. Among the subjects, 90 were recruited at dental hospital and 231 at community general practice. Questionnaire was covering the provisional construct of intention (12-items), social factor (8-items), perceived consequence (31-items), and affect (9-items), based on Triandis theory. The face and content validation have been already reported at past meeting (Baltimore). In this report, the construction of items, excluding intention, was demonstrated by factor analysis subsequently followed by assessment of internal consistency by computing respective Cronbach's alpha score and unimportant items were discarded. Regression analysis was performed with remained items to assess construct validity by analyzing the relations between “intention of wearing denture during the day” and total score of remaining items. Results: The six-constructs were identified by factor analysis: affect (á= 0.91), discomfort (á= 0.71), general conditions (á= 0.79), dental clinic amenity (á= 0.49), human relations (á= 0.58), and uncertain factors (á= inestimable). Eleven items were discarded and regression analysis revealed significant association between intention and final 37-items. Conclusion: The designed scale is valid and reliable questionnaire for assessing denture acceptance of edentulous individuals.
