| Outreach Teaching: Educational Policy Development, Implementation, and Evaluation | ||||||||||||||||||||
Sponsored by: Education Research | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Description: Outreach teaching is a contemporary educational philosophy with potential advantages for students in terms of increased clinical experience, improved communication skills, development of a broader vision for oral health, and team development. This workshop will consider educational policy development and integration of outreach philosophies with other curriculum objectives. Implementation of outreach teaching models will include considerations of student placements and supervision, patient management, and service inter-relationships. Evaluation of outreach teaching programs will include multi-stage issues and the applicability of randomized controlled trial methodology. The workshop is directed to researchers at all levels. Small-group work will follow the speakers’ presentations. It is planned that this workshop will provide participants with up-to-date information about the use of outreach teaching models and the opportunity to “up-skill” with regard to relevant tools | ||||||||||||||||||||
