| Molecular Signaling in Oral Cancer: Implications in Cancer Therapy | ||||||||||||||||||||
Sponsored by: Oral Medicine & Pathology | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Description: The symposium will consist of lectures by four scientists focused on signaling pathways in oral cancer. In spite of advancements in surgery, radiation and chemotherapy, only about half of individuals diagnosed with oral cancer will survive for five years. However, recently there has been major progress in our understanding of the molecular signaling pathways involved in tumorigenesis and tumor progression. The main objective of this symposium is to bring together experts from the related areas of cell signaling and present new findings related to oral cancer. Speakers will highlight progress in areas that include signaling pathways in growth factor and adhesion receptors, apoptosis and survival, proliferative signaling pathways, and angiogenesis. The potential for targeting these areas for therapeutic intervention will also be addressed. We anticipate that this timely international symposium will bring together a diverse group of clinicians and basic scientists as well as students and postdoctoral fellows. It is hoped that the lectures will stimulate discussion among new and established investigators, encourage collaborative and multidisciplinary studies, and enhance translational research | ||||||||||||||||||||
