Understanding the Association Between Periodontal Infection and Atherogenesis: What Do We Learn from a Mouse Model?

Sponsored by: Periodontal Research
Description: This session will discuss a hypercholesterolemic mouse model of oral infection, in which atherosclerosis is accelerated through activation of host inflammatory responses and enhanced vascular activation. Using such a model to uncover the mechanisms underlying this association is critical for the design of preventive/therapeutic strategies targeting atherosclerotic vascular disease
