| Entrepreneurial Training to Promote Careers in Academic Dentistry | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Description: This Symposium, Entrepreneurial Training to Promote Careers in Academic Dentistry: A Partnership between the Dental Industry and Academia is a condensed version of a program presented at the University of Connecticut, School of Dental Medicine on November 8-9, 2003 titled “Workshop Course to Promote and Develop Dental Technology”, and supported in part by a grant from the NIDCR. In 2005, this Workshop will be presented at five other dental schools, and requests for presentation have been received from 13 additional dental schools throughout the country. The connection between entrepreneurial training and careers in academic dentistry emerged from post-Workshop interviews with attendees, in which they expressed interest in remaining in academia if a career path that included entrepreneurship was offered. Additionally, the requests from dental schools around the country also suggest that a program linking entrepreneurship to dental academic careers is of broad interest to the dental community. Based on these findings, we propose to present this Symposium at the national ADEA meeting, and have requested the endorsement by the ADEA Corporate Advisory Council to make it available to all dental schools | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
