Statistical Considerations in Clinical Research Grant Applications

Sponsored by: NIDCR
Description: Core statistical issues common to clinical research proposals are addressed for non statisticians. The focus is on statistical issues of design and analysis that are integral to successful clinical research protocols. Specific topics include the clear delineation of study objective(s), appropriate choices for study design and population, control of covariates, methods for adjusting for dependent data structures among outcome variables and techniques for handling missing and incomplete data. Specific methodological pitfalls and traps are presented using dental applications and appropriate methods for avoiding these potential consequences are illustrated
