| Description: The purpose of this workshop is to explore bioethical and legal issues related to the planning and conduct of international collaborative research. Case studies will be used to illustrate these issues. Case studies will address the following issues: 1. the economic, social and political context in the country in which the study is being conducted 2. information about the disease or specific problem being addressed by the research 3. information about the design of the study 4. ethical problems and what is at stake for the affected parties 5. questions or issues that must be asked/resolved in order for the research to be considered ethically acceptable It is hoped that this workshop will provide an opportunity for researchers to share experiences and stimulate new and creative solutions to the unique ethical and legal problems experienced in designing and implementing collaborative research projects across national boundaries. The workshop is supported by NIDCR | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
