| Enhancing Opportunities for Oral Health Clinical Research | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Sponsored by: National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Description: To enhance opportunities for oral health clinical research, investigators need to collaborate with colleagues in the broader community and within their own academic health centers. Specifically, international collaborations can strengthen research and many dental schools have outreach programs that may provide access to patients with disparities in oral health care who are not ordinarily accessible to clinical researchers in the dental school environment. Moreover, the NIH sponsored General Clinical Research Center (GCRC) program is a potential collaborator in oral health research because these centers provide the infrastructure needed for clinical research and are located at many of the same academic health centers as dental schools. Many academic health centers also have Clinical Research Coordinating Centers and these can provide essential services for oral health researchers who conduct multi-site clinical studies. The speakers will discuss their successful interaction with each of these entities with a view towards providing practical advice on developing collaborations to enhance opportunities for clinical research in the dental school environment | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
