Objectives:The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of disinfection on dimensional stability of C-silicone impression materials.

Methods: A stainless steel maxillary model was produced. Three tapering preparations were made, one incisal and two molar. 30 impressions were made of C-silicone (Alphasil, Omicron Dental, Germany) with metal tray and divided into 6 groups of 5 impressions each.

Group 1. No immersion, poured after 15 minutes (Supra stone, Kerr, Sybron, Romulus, Mich.).

Group 2. 15 minutes immersion in 1 % didecyldimethyl amonnium chlorid solution (Hexanios Laboratories Anios, France) and poured.

Group 3. No immersion, poured after 60 minutes.

Group 4. 15 minutes immersion in 1 % didecyldimethyl amonium chloride solution and poured after 45 minutes.

Group 5. No immersion and poured after 24 hours.

Group 6. 15 minutes immersion in 1 % didecyldimethyl amonium chloride solution and poured after 24 hours.

Accuracy of techniques was assessed by measuring interabutments (A,B), cross arch(C,D) and occlusogingival (E,F,G) distance on stone dies with 3-D contact measuring device (Tesa MS 6101 3D, Swiss). Data were analyzed with Kruskal-Wallis test.

Results: Mean deformation distances (µm) and standard deviations (SD) of different groups are shown in table..Disinfection procedure and time intervals for model pouring showed no significant differences among the groups.

Conclusion: It was found that the dimension stability of C-silicone impression material was not effected by applied disinfection procedure and time intervals for fabricating a model.
