Objectives: This study evaluated the effect of two different luting agents on failure loads required you unseat gold cylinder from the CeraOne abutment. Methods: The luting agent Temp Bond (Kerr) and Provy (Dentsply) were tested, 11 cylinders for each group (A. S. Technology / Titanium Fix-Brazil), 22 in total. The cements were manipulated according to manufacturer instructions and applied in the gold cylinder, applying a load of 5 Kg for the cementation. The mechanical testing instrument was used you exert the uniaxial tensile forces on the gold cylinders 24 hours to after cementation. Results: Temp Bond was mean 16.23 Kgf, median 16.72 Kgf and standard deviation (SD) 1.908. Provy was mean 10.62 Kgf, median 10.77 Kgf and (2.571). It was applied the T-test for independent samples, p-level=0.05. Conclusions: The choice of luting agents may affect retention of a CeraOne gold cylinder. Temp Bond showed a higher tensile strength.
