Semados has developed a new method to build implant-supported prostheses, which consists of an intermediate abutment that connects the cast prosthesis with the dental implant. The intermediate abutment is cemented to the prosthetic cast. This abutment allow us to cast the prosthetic structure in any metal alloy without compromising a good implant-prosthesis adjustment. Objectives: The objectives of this study are to study the adjustment of prosthetic cast-intermediate abutment before and after cementing both parts with a resin cement (Panavia 21), and to study the adjustment of prosthetic cast-intermediate abutment if different metals are used. Methods: Six prosthetic cast were fabricated with high quantity gold alloy (Pontostar G), six with chrome-cobalt alloy (Wirobond C) and six with cast titanium (Dentaurum). Digital images were taken with a scanning microscope (Stereoscan 360) at 750 magnification at 12 points of each prosthetic cast-intermediate abutment interface before and after cementing both parts. Then, distance from the lowest part of the cast to the upper part of the intermediate abutment was measured with appropriated software. Finally, Wicoxon test was performed in order to determine any statistical difference in the mean amount of prosthetic structure-intermediate abutment interface before and after cementing both parts and in the mean amount of prosthetic structure-intermediate abutment interface if different metals were used for casting. Results: Statistical difference was found in the mean amount of prosthetic cast-intermediate abutment interface before and after cementing. No statistical difference was found in the mean amount of prosthetic cast-intermediate abutment interface if different metal alloys were used. Conclusion: We may conclude that the cementing process is a critical step in order to achieve a good prosthetic cast-intermediate abutment adjustment
