| Description: Estimates indicate that dental schools have fewer than half the faculty needed to provide a strong research environment. The recent Summit Conference on Dental School Leadership convened representatives from U.S. dental schools for a workshop to address the importance of research and scholarship in dental education and practice, and to consider critical issues in the recruitment and retention of students and faculty into research careers. Several working groups noted a need to identify and recruit new faculty from existing research training programs, and proposed that the ADEA and AADR work together to support this endeavor. The purpose of this symposium is to facilitate interaction between faculty and emerging dentist-scientists to foster exchange of career plans and opportunities. NIDCR-supported trainees at various educational levels from across the country will present their current research projects in an informal poster session and mixer. ADEA and C/AADR members are invited to attend and meet these promising future faculty | ||||||||
