R.C. SILVA, G.M. SPYRIDES, and E. ROIZMAN, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Objective:This work compared in vitro the shear bond values of the Panavia F resin cement ( Kuraray ) between two tipes of porcelains: a feldspatic ( Vitadur Alpha - Vita ) and a infiltrated ( In-Ceram - Vita ), when this porcelains was cemented on bovine enamel. Methods: 20 samples were divided in two groups: the Group I had 10 Vitadur Alpha cylinders ( that were etched with hydrofluoric acid ), the Group II had 10 In-Ceram cylinders ( that were sandblasted with 50:m aluminum oxide ). Both porcelains groups received silane coupling agent. This cylinders were cemented with Panavia F resin cement on the bovine enamel and the shear bond strength was tested on a Instron testing machine. Results: The results were evaluated by the ANOVA test and they showed shear bond values of 25,66Mpa for In-Ceram and 27,86MPa for Vitadur, with no statistics diference. Conclusions:This work proved the efficiency of the Panavia F resin cement ( Kuraray ) above the Vitadur Alpha feldspatic porcelain and the In-Ceram infiltrated porcelain ( Vita ); and proved, also, that the sandblast with aluminum oxide particles showed to be an effective alternative for the surface treatment of the In-Ceram porcelain. | ||
