P. TRAMBA, and P. LESCLOUS, Faculté de chirurgie dentaire de Paris 5, Montrouge, France Objectives:Dental implants success assessment can't be only based on the osseointegrated number of implants. This assessment requires technical and biological considerations and also subjectives attentions inherent in the patient's satisfaction. Even, if many methodological weaknesses are observed, today osseointegration success assessment relies on valid tests, pertinent, easy to identify and apply. Therefore we propose with this study to use analogical visual scales. Such a tool allows quantitative and qualitative assessment from the patient's satisfaction. This assessment is carried out before the treatment and one year after the prosthetic achievement. By comparing this two steps, we are able to quantify the real benefit of the dental implant therapy. It is a prime necessity to understand that this comparison is exclusively based on data given by the patient. This satisfaction assessment explored the real effectiveness of dental implant therapy and not only the mecanical succes usely discribed. Then, we will be able to know the service delivered with regard to the initial request and to evaluate the evolutions of the treatment (degradation, improvement or tolerance). Methods: Twenty four questions were regrouped in a questionnary arround five following items : pains (3), oral functions (7), dental and occlusal functions (5) , esthetic (2) ,body integrity and comfort (7). Reply media was a Succession of Analogic Visual Scales for answers. Wilcoxon non parametric statistic tests were used for comparison. Results: The firsts results, (24 Patients (1997 to 2001)) show a global improvement in all items, compared to the initial situation. Oral functions(p<0,02) –Esthetic(p=0,005)-Dentals and occlusals functions(p>0,05)-Body integrity and comfort(p>0,05). Conclusions: This type of evaluation which explored patient's satisfaction is necesairy to determine the efficiency of dental implant rehabilitation according to the clinical situations. | ||
