WHO criteria. Results:The study showed 43.8% of 3-year-olds to be free of caries.A higher proportion of caries-free children was found in urban(46.1%)than in rural areas(41.6%),and among boys(44.2%)than among girls(43.4%).Mean dmft was 2.9(dt=2.8,mt=0.0,ft=0.1),and ranged from 1.6-4.3.Mean dmft values were higher in rural (3.0)than in urban areas(2.8),and among girls(3.0)than among boys(2.8).A total of 8.6% children had a dmft value of 1; 9.5% had a dmft value of 2; 5.5% had a dmft value of 3; 32.6% had a dmft value of 4 and above.Among 6-year-olds,13.1% were caries-free.A higher proportion of caries-free children was found in rural(13.4%)than in urban areas(12.8%),and among girls(15.4%)than among boys(10.8%).Mean DMFT was 0.2(DT=0.2,MT=0.0,FT=0.0),and ranged from 0.0-1.4.Mean DMFT values were higher in rural(0.3)than in urban areas(0.2),and among girls(0.3)than among boys(0.2). Conclusion:The data showed high levels of caries in both 3- and 6-year-old children. The almost complete lack of caries treatment observed in 3-year-olds may contribute to the high level of caries observed in the older age group. | ||
