AKASAKA, Nihon University, Tokyo, Japan Objectives: The purpose of this study is to clarify children's functional mandibular movement of terminal position Methods: A system which can calculate the area in all obstetrical chin presentations according to the distance between maxilla and mandibula was constructed. The term "function region area" was applied to 0.0-0.5mm in distance. The term "adjacent region area" was applied to 0.5-1.0mm in the distance. Comparative studies of these areas were made at the mastication movement gliding motility side in the adult group. Results: According to the vertical distance at mastication, the children's group indicated the small value in other items except for the function region area of 0.5mm aperture title compared with the adult group (p<0.01). In the middle groups' difference of the area according to the horizontal distance at the gliding, in the function region area and the adjacent region area of the centric occlusion, the children's group indicated the small value compared with the adult group (p<0.01). In the difference between the work side and non-work side at the gliding, the non-work side indicated the small value in the children's group by the adjacent region area at each position compared with the work side and non-work side which indicated the small value in an adult group in the adjacent region area of 1.0mm side position compared with the work side (p<0.01). In the horizontal difference according to the work side at the gliding, 0.5mm side position and 1.0mm side position indicated the small value on the non-work side of the adult group compared with the centric occlusion (p<0.05). Conclusion: The gliding of the children group suggested the side is moving as the entire tooth plane is being touched. It became clear that this group presents the so-called Full Balanced Occlusion. | ||
