| 0535 Health Dentistry Education and the Incidence of Caries at Children from the Primary School | ||

VACARU1, 1University of Medicine and Pharmacy Timisoara, Timiºoara, Romania, 2University of Medicine and Pharmacy Timisoara, Romania The purpose of this research is to demonstrate that carious index decreased importantly to the children which are taking part to a health educational program. Material and Methods: There were introduced in the program 2 groups of children with age between 6 to10 years. The first group –the witness group is formed by 204 children from a primary school with normal program from Timisoara, which were not included in the health educational program. The second group is formed by 705 children (275 girls and 430 boys) from a special institution. There were written the dentistry files and the carious index was calculated to each group. The work group participated to a health educational program, the children watched movies about this subject ,there were made demonstrations concerning tooth brushing techniques. There were took primary preventive measures ,professional cleaning ,fissure sealing and fluoridation. There were also made reevaluations every 6 months. After 2 years the conclusions were: the prevalence of caries at institutionalized children decreased with a percent between 8 to 10 ,the children were receptive to the program ,they were motivated for a better care of their oral health.. | ||
